To celebrate HROC’s 40th anniversary, the agency set itself the challenge of raising £40,000 for charity, with the employees at HROC taking part in a number of activities to help us reach our goal. Throughout June, HROC Senior Designer, Laura Rowson, is taking part in Running Down Dementia 2019. We caught up with Laura to find out more about her challenge:
“Throughout June, myself and Finn (my 8 year old little boy) are taking part in Running Down Dementia for Alzheimer’s Research UK. We will run every day during the month – covering over 100km – whilst attempting to raise lots of money for people with this awful disease, and to go towards research into finding a cure.
“We are running for my lovely dad, David, who was diagnosed with Vascular Dementia in November 2016. He was only 69. It has ruined his quality of life and stolen all his memories, whilst significantly changing his personality and the ability to function in ‘normal’ life. He should be happily retired now doing things he always dreamed of doing. Instead, he relies on my brother, sister and myself 24/7 to do everything for him. This disease his taken my dad and replaced him with a stranger.
“We are not runners. We’ve just completed Couch to 5k but before that I could not run for more than 30 seconds before getting out of breath! Finn wants to do this for his grandad. While we run, we talk about our memories of him and thinking of him spurs us on and gives us a focus to keep going.
“Please help us by giving whatever you can. The more people that know about Running Down Dementia 2019, the greater the impact, so please also spread the word with your friends and family. Thank you in advance for your generosity, it means a lot!”
